Session Outline

This session will offer colleagues the opportunity to hear from and discuss compassionate learning environments and support services with colleagues in the HISA and UHI teams supporting students through and beyond their student journey at UHI. Drawing on the Student Learning Experience model from sparqs part of this session will focus on how staff can facilitate a respectful, constructive and compassionate learning environment which are mindful of the wider context of students’ lives, experiences and identities.  The session will also offer information on how and when staff can utilise the UHI support services including careers and counselling to signpost and refer students and to also be mindful of their own wellbeing and self-compassion.

Chaired by Nicola Smith, Head of Careers and Employability at UHI, this session will start with short presentations before moving into a panel discussion and participant Q&A.

Presenters

Simon Varwell, Director of Student Engagement & Representation, HISA
